What is precision sizing?

At Laws of Motion, size inclusivity is about both size and shape. Using millions of data points on women’s bodies, we engineered 1,260 sizes that celebrate unique shapes within sizes 00-40. Answer a few quick questions and our proprietary set of algorithms will map you to your perfect-fitting size.

 

What if I have a question about fit?

We believe that women shouldn't have to sacrifice time or money in pursuit of the perfect fit. Contact our team at hello@lawsofmotion.com, and one of our Laws of Motion Fit Specialists will answer any questions you have. We are happy to account for specific measurements and/or any insights you’d like to share about your shape and size.

Why does the Fit Quiz ask about ethnicity and age?

Laws of Motion exists to provide women with perfect fitting clothing that powers their confidence. We are dedicated to our customers’ happiness and satisfaction, and we will never share this data publicly. The data collected will serve as a critical resource in our algorithm logic and continuous development of microsizes, as we continually work to offer women the perfect fit, 100% of the time.

Are Laws of Motion products really machine washable?

Yes! Almost all Laws of Motion products are machine washable. We barely had time to wash our hair today...who has time to dry clean? Please remember to hand or machine wash cold and lay flat to dry.

 

Please note that seasonal fabrics may vary in care requirements. Please check the inside care label to confirm care instructions. 

 

What does zero waste manufacturing mean? 

Sustainability shouldn't be an afterthought. We're committed to zero waste and zero inventory. Through an innovative combination of modern manufacturing and technology, our garments are digitally cut based on-demand and specific size in order to eliminate fabric waste.

 

How does body scan work?

Utilizing artificial intelligence powered by advanced computer vision and deep learning architecture, Laws of Motion's body scanning technology is specifically trained for accuracy across all heights, weights, and body shapes within sizes 00-40, and designed to remove gender from the sizing experience. Simply upload two pictures - no app download required - and our Body Scan generates a 3D model of your body, predicting your measurements with over 99% accuracy before mapping you to your perfect-fitting Laws of Motion size.

 

Where do my pictures go after I submit them?

Laws of Motion's revolutionary sizing technology anonymizes uploaded pictures before calculating over one million measurements per scan using our proprietary computer vision and deep learning architecture. Our machine learning sizing algorithms then map you to one of our 1,260 precision sizes, which are designed to fit you perfectly.

 

Do my pictures save?

Your predicted measurements and personalized size information are saved in our encrypted database and are accessible when you create a profile on Laws of Motion.

 

How do I take a successful picture for the Body Scan?

Laws of Motion's Body Scan technology takes fewer than 60 seconds and only requires two pictures - no app needed! The Body Scan upload page will walk you through the ideal picture setup, including taking full-body front and side pictures that include your head and feet while wearing tight black clothing and standing against a solid white background. Don't have a solid background? No problem - our technology is specifically designed to eliminate background objects to maximize body recognition and make your life easier.

 

What is the difference between the Body Scan and Fit Quiz? Should I do both?

Laws of Motion offers a Fit Quiz and Body Scan. Both technologies predict your body measurements with over 99% accuracy using our proprietary architecture and algorithms, and take fewer than 60 seconds to complete. Feel free to try both - our sizing algorithms will take all sizing information into account when refining your personalized size to ensure the perfect fit.

 

How is Laws of Motion protecting my privacy?

Laws of Motion prioritizes data privacy - all customer images are anonymized and are never sold or used for any purpose other than to engineer personalized sizing. Please find our full Privacy Policy here.

  

Ordering, Shipping & Returns

When will my item ship?

Each Laws of Motion garment is made to order using a zero waste, zero inventory manufacturing process. Items are typically shipped 1-2 weeks after the purchase date, even when expedited shipping is selected. When your item ships, you’ll receive an email with tracking information. Orders are shipped from New York via UPS. If shipping to a PO Box, USPS will deliver your package. 

 

Please note: Pre-order items will ship according to the date listed on the product page. If you need to receive your order by a specific date, then please send us an email, and we’ll do everything we can to make it happen.  Special collections, like the Hero Robe, ship 5-7 days after the order date.

 

Can I receive my item any faster?

Most Laws of Motion pieces are made to order and will ship 1-2 weeks after the purchase date. Pre-order items will ship according to the date on the product page. If you select overnight shipping at checkout, please note the delivery speed will be faster, but it will not impact the processing time of your garments.

 

Do you ship internationally? 

At this time, we ship only within the United States. We hope to ship internationally in the near future - you can follow along @lawsofmotion and be sure to check back!

 

What if my item doesn't fit?

We offer a Perfect Fit Guarantee. We know first-hand that fit and confidence are correlated, and we are committed to matching you to your perfect-fitting Laws of Motion microsize. Wear it, wash it, and if you don't feel like a legend, then please let us know and we will work with you to fix it. We provide complimentary alterations (either by your local tailor or by us). Plus, we are happy to issue a full refund as needed within 30 days of receipt.

 

How do I make a return or exchange?

Finding your perfect-fitting Laws of Motion piece is very important to us. We use data-driven insights from customers to get smarter about fit and inform size expansion. Please email hello@lawsofmotion.com to initiate a return. All returns and exchanges are free. Please note, all limited edition items are only eligible for return within 14 days of receipt.

What is the Hero Initiative?

When Laws of Motion pivoted from making womenswear to making PPE to help fill a critical shortage of supplies for heroes on the frontline of COVID-19, we launched The Hero Initiative. This is about recognizing and celebrating our heroes. Being a hero means working on the frontlines during the pandemic, powering an essential business, and doing our part by staying home. Being a hero also means standing up for social injustices that are deeply rooted in America. It means showing up and standing up for what’s right.

 

There are many ways to get involved in this initiative. One way is by purchasing the Hero Robe, the second is by ordering free masks for protests, and the third is by making donations that fuel our support. 

1. The Hero Robe. We are offering a limited-edition Hero Robe made of our silky-smooth signature lining. When you buy one robe, 10 face masks are donated on your behalf to frontline heroes in need. 2. Free Masks for Protests. Laws of Motion stands in solidarity with the Black community against systemic racism and oppression. Whether you’re part of a protest or helping ensure safety during one, you can order a pack of 25 face masks on us, to help protect yourself and those around you.

3. PPE Production. In response to COVID-19, Laws of Motion is now also producing PPE. For all PPE related inquiries, please email ppe@lawsofmotion.com. 

Where are you donating face masks?

Laws of Motion is partnering with hospital systems across the United States to donate face masks based on specific needs. If you or someone you know works on the frontlines and is need of PPE, then please email us at hello@lawsofmotion.com.

  

I want to support our heroes on the frontlines of COVID-19, but I don’t really need a robe. How can I still contribute?

There are a few ways you can contribute.

1. When you purchase a Hero Robe, you can choose to not receive it! Instead, you can opt to donate an extra face mask to our heroes on the frontlines.

2. You can gift a robe to a friend. When you click add to bag, there is an option to add a gift message.

3. There is also an option to donate directly. For every $25 donated, we will donate 5 face masks to a hero in need.

Will I be receiving a tax receipt for my donation?

100% of proceeds from the Hero Initiative are being used to fund personal protective equipment (PPE) for frontline workers in need. At this time, Laws of Motion is not established as a 501(c)(3) Organization, and so we are unable to offer tax receipts/exemptions for your donation. Given the immense need for PPE, we are incredibly thankful for your contribution and appreciate your understanding. 

 

How are you prioritizing health and sanitation at your own factories?

The health and safety of our team members is something we take very seriously, and we are integrating necessary precautions throughout our operations. Within our 10,000 square foot New Jersey factory, we are following strict social distancing protocols, staggering shifts to minimize the number of people inside at one time, and following FDA guidelines for sterilization and cleanliness. Anyone working in the factory is required to wear appropriate PPE, including masks and gowns, in order to protect themselves and these essential products before they leave our factory.
